On May 7 COBANC participated in a remote meeting with all the Court Unions and OCA. The focus of the meeting was on where court operations are headed in the future. The Court System is currently concentrating on opening three districts in the upstate area. OCA discussed opening in some kind of shifts with certain people continuing to work from home and the majority of the courts being virtual.
We spoke about plexiglass barriers, foot traffic decals, office set-ups, and security staffing. When everything is in place the Unions will do walkthroughs with OCA and Local Administration.
We know that members talk to each other and on social media. Local is looking at all the buildings and preparing what needs to get attention for an eventual re-opening. Trust me, this re-opening, when it does happen, will be slow at best.
When it comes to masks, OCA sources them from Homeland Security. Masks are their responsibility and they will supply them for all who will be working as mandated. Hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and cleaners will be readily available.
Please know that we are working every day for our members. Local administration has been preparing and has listened to our input. This is an evolving situation and current plans may change. Please if you have a question call us directly. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more.
