As a branch of our Good and Well committee which is Chaired by Officer, Delegate and firefighter Randy Meierdierks, we have instituted two new sub committees for a new benefit for COBANC members; CERT and HELP
The CERT squad’s purpose is to help COBANC members when disaster strikes; be it a house fire, car accident, flood, hurricane, hazardous material spill or anything catastrophic in nature. Our team is designed for crises management within the first 24- hours and after the first responders leave. CERT consists of caring COBANC members, some current volunteer firefighters, some former police officers with special training and also some great members who just want to help. CERT can temporarily provide: Communications, generators, water, towing, muscle, pick-up trucks, flashlights, cleaning supplies, clothing, firewood and gasoline just to name a few.
If you become aware of a member facing a catastrophe please seek out any union Delegate or one of our CERT hero volunteers:
District Court - Eric Robinson (sub Chair), Cynthia Austin-Dalen, Neil Schloth Supreme Court – Billy Powell, Rachel Van Den Valentyn

The HELP squad’s purpose is to help COBANC Members who may be going through a rough time with something that is not an emergency in nature and also as follow up to the CERT squad. Our wonderful HELP volunteers may be able to temporarily assist members with: Food, lodging, transportation, child or eldercare, protection/security, 10-13’s, “after the passing of a loved one” support, community support and help, after termination, article 81 material, to be a sympathetic ear or just a helping hand.
