Health and Welfare News, including Out-of-Pocket Reimbursement Increases

Monday, January 29, 2018

The Union Health and Welfare Fund reimbursement for out of pocket health care costs has been increased from $200 to $250 in 2018 (for 2017) and going forward. Applications for reimbursement can now be submitted. Reminder; make it easy on yourself and grab a pay stub from the February-December, 2017 payroll, make a copy and submit. Your medical premium payment for health insurance makes you eligible once your premium payment is over $250. For most, that was the second paycheck in January of 2017. Deadline is April 15, 2018. Do it now, so you don't forget.

Also, our Health and Welfare fund eyeglass benefit has changed from a twelve-month timeframe to "once every calendar year". You no longer have to wait 365 days to use the benefit. You just have to remember that you are entitled to use the benefit anytime in 2018 and then again anytime in 2019 and so on into the future.
