COBANC Health & Welfare

Thursday, July 30, 2015
Effective July 1st, 2015 your Health and Welfare committee has authorized COBANC's entry into the upgraded Capital Plan dentistry program through Healthplex. We found that more than half our membership (52%) were going "out of network" for their dental work and were experiencing substantial out of pocket expenses. The new Capital plan more than doubles the number of participating provider Dentists in the metro area, including Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties and increases the number of participants in Florida more than ten-fold! We have posted the entire Capital Plan provider book on our website for your viewing. Look under "Members/Benefits/Dental Benefits/Participating Providers" at As always, please call the provider you are using for the first time to confirm that they are still on the panel.
In addition, GVS will be rolling out its new inter-active website with a dedicated phone number for COBANC members only. Members will be able to verify coverage, make an appointment at a desired location and even get a preview, with a 360 degree view, of the over 200 frames that are guaranteed to be available when you arrive at the store.  Look for the GVS mailing to arrive at your home in a matter of weeks which will include a COBANC I.D. card and the COBANC only private concierge customer service number.
Accu-Health will soon be taking reservations for when they will be visiting all the court complexes (estimated to be mid to late August) for the new "Health and Wellness" program. Under the auspices of St. Francis Hospital we are introducing our new program which is available to all members and spouses REGARDLESS OF THEIR AGE (and dependants from age 18 to 26) that specializes in the prevention, early detection and treatment of diseases when they are more easily treatable. THIS NEW BENEFIT IS PROVIDED AT NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE - NOT EVEN A CO-PAY! Testing includes a biometric screening, a wide array of non-invasive ultrasound tests and a disease management protocol if needed. The results obtained with this program are evaluated by board certified specialists. Normally this clinical process would require multiple office visits to various specialists costing the patient valuable time as well as multiple co-payments. If further disease management is required members will have access to the medical director and board certified cardiologist at St. Francis Hospital. Tests include: Biometric Screening, EKG, Echocardiogram, Carotid Duplex, Pulmonary Function Test, Abdominal Aorta sonogram, lower arterial duplex ultrasound and upper extremity arterial ultrasound. Look for the COBANC posted flyers and an additional web blast when Court locations and times are set up. If you don't want to wait just call Accu-Health at 877-646-2228 to find out when and where other testing sites are throughout Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.
